The Wayzata Soccer Club will be hosting PACT meetings this year. While parent attendance is not required, it is strongly encouraged that you attend. And if 80% of your players are represented at one of the sessions, the club will give your team $100 once you’ve emailed Vince with the attendees.

The PACT sessions are March 14th (limited to 100 attendees) and April 25th (limited to 200 attendees) from 9-11:15 a.m. They will be held at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church of Plymouth (12235 Old Rockford Road). We are not requiring parents to attend but we are strongly encouraging your attendance. Note that we are requiring coaches and board members to attend sessions as we feel this is very important material.
Parents and Coaches Together (PACT) is an educational program developed at the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Ethical Education and Development. The program is based on the latest research from developmental and sports psychology and is designed to help coaches and parents to get on the same page in successfully creating a positive and nurturing climate in Minnesota youth soccer.
Research has shown that improved sideline behavior is directly related to player’s performance. Minnesota athletes reported the predominant factor in coaches creating a toxic climate for them currently is the emphasis on outperforming teammates, and the coach favoring some athletes over others. The PACT training is designed to help coaches explore ways of intrinsically motivating players to be the best player they can be. Through educational efforts, PACT™ increases the likelihood that all youth will continue to play and enjoy soccer.
As a parent in the Wayzata Soccer Club you are strongly encouraged to attend PACT (Parents and Coaches Together) prior to the start of the 2009 summer season. Attendees are required to register online at http://www.mnyouthsoccer.org/pac/workshops.cfm by March 11th or April 22nd dependent on which session they plan on attending. If you cannot attend this particular session you are welcome to register for and attend any other session listed on the website. Seminars will continue to be added throughout the coming weeks and are offered through May of 2009.
Questions regarding PACT may be directed to Shelly Orr, MYSA Director of Member Services at 952-252-0226 or shellyorr@mnyouthsoccer.org. <!--EndFragment-->
